Deciding on Subforum Rules

So, I want people to understand how things work around here, but I also want to get some input before I put together a hard set of rules for creating/maintaining new games. Let's use this thread to discuss those rules and guidelines to help people get comfortable here!

On other forums where I did freeform role-playing, games would usually start with a thread for Interest Checks/Recruitment, where people would brainstorm and throw ideas together for characters and storylines. Once it was clear that the game had legs, three threads would be made:
  • a Character Registry, where everyone posts and lists their various characters for easy reference
  • an Out-of-Character thread, where all the OOC discussion regarding the game took place
  • an In-Character thread, where all the in-character role-play took place
The whole format kept the role-play running smoothly without getting side-tracked in out-of-character chatter. Different locations would eventually get their own in-character threads, but I think if an RP requires that kind of splitting up, we can spin it off into its own subforum.

Each game generally had it's own acronym as well, which was part of each thread's title to keep things easily recognizable at a glance. I think keeping that as general rule isn't a bad idea.

Any other suggestions? Questions? Thoughts?

Never done this sort of thing before, but at a glance that seems like the best way to do it!
